Julep - Alfre

I became a Julep Maven two weeks ago and finally received my intro package today. For more information about Julep, check this out!

This colour is called Alfre and it's a creamy greyish purple. It was easy to apply and very shiny without a top coat.

I added a layer of Disco Dazzle by cover girl. I really liked the way it made the grey stand out!!

Pink-ing of you

I haven't updated in awhile, I've been busy with work.

Today I combined an OPI colour with a Cover girl glitter top coat.

The OPI colour is called "Pink-ing of you" and it's a light creamy pink. The Cover girl colour is called "Disco Dazzle". I've had it for a long time and I find myself using it all the time now.

I found the pink to be a bit plain alone so I added one layer of the glitter top coat.

Both of the colours were easy to apply.

Alpine snow + Party of five glitters

I know I wrote in my last entry that I will review Love is a Racket next. I had the colour on but only for three days because it started to chip. Next time I wear it I'll post pictures.

I've had my eye on OPI's Alpine Snow for awhile and I finally bought it yesterday. It was easy to apply. I put on two coats, I found just one coat to be a little streaky.

Since I love glitter I added a coat of Wet N Wilds glitter called Party of Five Glitters. I got it at Walmart awhile ago, it was super cheap, under $3.

It's easy to apply, has lots of multi coloured glitter and it's great for a top coat!!

Here is a picture with flash. I saw several people pair alpine snow with glitter and I love it :)

Pros & Bronze

Yesterday I picked up the latest Serena Williams OPI collection. I tried the golden yellow sparkly colour called Pros & Bronze. It is different from all the other nail polishes that I own.

The colour looks super shiny and sparkly in sunlight!

It went on smooth and it was very easy to apply.

I  put on three coats although two looks good as well.

I'm happy with the way it turned out. Next I'll be trying the second colour in the set, which is the shimmery red called Love is a Racket.

Gleek out + Completely Fern-ished

Today I combined an old nail polish I had with one I just got.

The one on the left is Gleek Out from OPI by Sephora Glee collection. The one on the right is Completely Fern-ished from the Opi by Sephora Garden of Good and Evil collection.

I used two coats of Completely Fern-ished. The nail polish was very thick and chunky. I had a hard time applying it, it was a huge mess!! I didn't take a picture of my nails without the glitter coat cause they looked quite gross and messy!!! I really hated this nail polish texture.

On top I added one coat of Gleek Out, which is an oldie but a goodie!! It's easy to apply and very sparkly. I'm almost done my mini sized bottle of it.
I do not recommend Completely Fern-ished, unless you want to spend most of your time applying and reapplying it and trying to clean up after.

Be a Dahlia won't you because I Lily love you ;)

Today my nails feature two of my favourite things, the colour pink and glitter!!!

For the base I used OPI's Be a Dahlia Won't You from the Nice Stems collection. It's easy to apply and thick so I used two coats.  On the top I added I Lily Love You, also from the Nice Stems collection. This polish is excellent for a top coat to add some sparkles to your nails.

This is a picture without flash

Here is a picture with flash! I really like the way it turned out

I Lily Love You and Be a Dahlia, won't you?? Love the Nice Stems collection!!!

Sally Hansen Pink crackle

I have several of the OPI shatters including black, turquoise, white and silver. I saw the Sally Hansen version of it at Walmart and since it cost under $6, I decided to give it a try.

For the base I used OPI's Play the Peonies. It's from the Nice Stems collection. I rarely use an entire bottle of nail polish so I really like the minis.

Here is a picture of it with flash. it's a light, almost white pink. It was a bit thick so I used two coats.

Play the Peonies

Here is Sally Hansen's Crackle in Fuschia Shock. First I tried it over black and it didn't turn out well. I guess it crackles best over light colours.

I put on one thick coat and it shattered great!! Right away the cracks appeared and they got even bigger after I added a clear top coat.

I really liked the way it turned out. I'm a huge fan of pink so I'm glad I stumbled upon this shatter. I'm not sure if it will last as long as OPI but it's worth a try!

Navy blue

Here I combined a navy blue with some glitter

This colour is Sue vs. Shue from the Glee Sephora by OPI minis collection. I used one coat, the colour is quite rich and easy to apply.

Next I added one coat of Mint Fizz, a scented colour by Revlon. This colour is watery so if you want to wear it alone it is best to apply several layers. It can get messy so wait for the coats to dry in between applications.

I really like the way the glitter made the navy blue underneath pop out!!

The products I used (from left to right) are Sue vs. Shue from the Glee collection by OPI, Mint Fizz by Revlon and Sephora by OPI 3-1 base, top and strengthener for the top coat.
